About the Training

There is a quiet problem in the modern yoga space.

Everything is being labelled as “breathwork.”

Fast breathing. Emotional release. Catharsis. Stimulation.

And while some of these practices have value, they are not Prāṇāyāma.

Prāṇāyāma is not just breathing techniques.

It is a precise, disciplined, and deeply transformative limb of yoga that works with prāṇa - the life force, through the medium of breath. It requires preparation, understanding, patience, and responsibility.

This 25-hour Prāṇāyāma Teacher Training is designed to bring you back to that clarity.

Not just how to breathe.

But how to study, practise, regulate, and teach breath with intelligence.

Why Prāṇāyāma Matters More Than Ever

Most people today are not breathing well. Not because they lack oxygen, but because their breath reflects their state of being. It is often shallow, irregular, reactive, and effortful. The breath, in many ways, mirrors the nervous system, and the nervous system mirrors the way we live.

When life becomes fast, demanding, and overstimulating, the breath follows suit. It shortens, tightens, and loses its natural rhythm. Over time, this disconnect between breath and awareness begins to affect not only the body, but also the mind, emotions, and overall sense of stability.

Prāṇāyāma offers a bridge back.

It gives us a way to move from reactivity to regulation, from agitation to steadiness, from fragmentation to awareness, and from unconscious breathing to conscious presence. Through consistent and intelligent practice, the breath becomes not just a function, but a tool for self-understanding and internal balance.

However, this shift does not happen through random techniques or surface-level instruction. It requires Prāṇāyāma to be taught with precision, context, and respect for its depth. Not as a trend to be consumed, not as performance to be displayed, but as a practice to be studied, experienced, and integrated over time.

About This 25-Hour Online Prāṇāyāma Training

This is a fully online Prāṇāyāma Teacher Training, launching in May 2028, designed for yoga teachers, practitioners, and serious students who want to understand breath beyond surface-level instruction.

The training is structured in a way that allows you to:

  • study the theory with clarity

  • practise consistently

  • observe your own patterns

  • develop teaching confidence gradually

You will be guided through the training within a dedicated learning window, encouraging discipline, consistency, and engagement rather than passive consumption.

Because Prāṇāyāma cannot be understood by scrolling through content.

It must be practised, observed, and refined.

What Makes This Prāṇāyāma Training Different

Many breath-work courses today focus on experience. This training focuses on understanding and application. You will not just be guided through techniques.

You will learn:

  • when to use them

  • when not to use them

  • how they affect the body and mind

  • how to adapt them responsibly

  • how to teach them safely

This training bridges:

  • traditional yogic understanding

  • modern anatomical awareness

  • practical teaching methodology

So that your knowledge is not vague or performative, but grounded and usable.

What You Will Study

This training is structured to give you both theoretical depth and practical clarity.

1. Understanding Prāṇa and the Purpose of Prāṇāyāma You will begin with the foundation. What is prāṇa? What is the role of breath in yoga? Why is Prāṇāyāma considered a bridge between body and mind? We will explore classical yogic perspectives alongside practical interpretation, so these concepts are not abstract but applicable.

2. Breath vs Prāṇāyāma - Knowing the Difference Not all breathing is Prāṇāyāma. This section clarifies the difference between: •natural breathing •regulated breathing •breath manipulation •traditional Prāṇāyāma practices You will begin to understand why intention, structure, and method matter.

3. Anatomy and Physiology of Breathing A clear understanding of the physical body is essential. You will study: •the respiratory system •diaphragm function •lung capacity and mechanics •relationship between breath and posture •how breath influences the nervous system This allows you to teach from knowledge, not assumption.

4. The Nervous System and Breath Regulation One of the most important aspects of modern Prāṇāyāma teaching. You will explore how breath affects: •the autonomic nervous system •stress response and recovery •emotional regulation •states of alertness and rest You will also learn why certain techniques may not be suitable for every individual.

5. Subtle Body: Nāḍī, Prāṇa Vāyu and Internal Awareness Prāṇāyāma is not limited to physical breath. You will be introduced to: •nāḍī (energy channels) •prāṇa vāyu (directional movements of energy) •the relationship between breath and subtle awareness These teachings are presented in a way that is grounded, not mystical or vague.

6. Foundational Prāṇāyāma Techniques You will study and practise key Prāṇāyāma techniques in a structured and progressive way. This includes: •awareness-based breathing •ratio breathing •alternate nostril breathing •calming and balancing practices •more stimulating techniques introduced with context and caution Each technique is explored through: •purpose •method •effects •contraindications

7. Preparation for Prāṇāyāma Practice Prāṇāyāma does not begin with breath control. You will learn how to prepare the body and mind through: •posture and seat •simple movement •awareness practices •internal readiness This is often skipped in modern teaching - but it is essential.

8. Common Mistakes and Safety Guidelines This section is critical. You will learn: •what not to do •signs of over-efforting •breath retention risks •when to avoid certain techniques •how to adapt for different students Prāṇāyāma, when taught incorrectly, can be destabilising. This training emphasises safety as much as technique.

9. Teaching Methodology for Prāṇāyāma Knowing a technique is one thing. Teaching it is another. You will learn: •how to structure a Prāṇāyāma session •how to sequence breath practices •how to give clear and simple instructions •how to observe students •how to teach without overwhelming This is where knowledge becomes skill.

10. Integrating Prāṇāyāma into Yoga Classes and Daily Life You will explore how Prāṇāyāma can be integrated into: •asana classes •meditation practices •personal routines •therapeutic or supportive settings So that it becomes a living practice, not a separate technique.
