If you are searching for a sound healing training near Edinburgh, or across Scotland and the United Kingdom, you will come across many courses that focus primarily on instruments and performance.
This training offers something different.
Held just outside Edinburgh in East Lothian, approximately 25 minutes from the city, this 50-hour immersive Sound Healing Facilitator Training at The Yoga Nerds is rooted in Nāda Yoga, the yogic science of sound, alongside my ancestral connection to music and lineage-based practice. It is further supported by a contemporary understanding of vibration and its impact on the human system.
You are not simply learning how to play instruments.
You are learning how to listen, observe, regulate, and facilitate with awareness.

Why Sound Healing Is Becoming Essential Today
Sound has been used across cultures for healing, ritual, and inner work for centuries.
From mantra and yogic traditions in India to indigenous practices around the world, sound has long been recognised as something that influences both the body and consciousness.
Modern research now supports what these traditions have always understood.
Sound can influence the nervous system and stress response, shift brainwave activity, and support states of deep rest, emotional release, and recovery.
As sound-based practices continue to grow in popularity across Edinburgh, Scotland, and the wider UK, there is an increasing need for practitioners who understand not only how to create sound, but how to work with people responsibly and with sensitivity.
Why This Training Is Different
If you are exploring sound healing training options in Edinburgh or across Scotland, you will find that many courses focus primarily on learning how to play instruments.
This training approaches sound differently.
It is grounded in the understanding of sound as Nāda, a form of primordial vibration, rather than something to be performed or displayed.
You will learn how to hold space with awareness and responsibility, how to work with the nervous system without overwhelming it, and how to integrate sound practices within the broader framework of Nāda Yoga.
The emphasis here is not on performance or aesthetics, but on perception, sensitivity, and presence.
Rooted in Indian music, mantra, and an ancestral relationship to sound, this training brings together traditional Indian wisdom, yogic philosophy, and modern therapeutic awareness in a way that feels both relevant and deeply grounded.

Nāda Yoga, Sound Healing and Sound Baths - Understanding the Difference
Nāda Yoga is the path of sound and inner listening.
It teaches that all of existence is vibration, and that through sound, awareness can be refined and directed inward.
In contemporary settings, sound baths have become a popular entry point into working with sound. However, they are not the same as sound healing.
Sound healing involves intentional, structured, and often therapeutic application of sound.
Sound baths tend to be group-based, immersive, and primarily relaxation-focused.
In this training, you will develop a clear understanding of both.
You will learn the distinction between sound healing and sound baths, when and how to apply each appropriately, and how to move beyond passive sound experiences into conscious and responsible facilitation.
What You Will Learn in This Sound Healing Training

This training offers a comprehensive and layered understanding of sound, moving from foundational principles into applied facilitation.
You will explore:
-
Foundations of Sound - Understanding frequency, resonance, and vibration, and how sound interacts with the nervous system.

-

-

What You Will Take Away
-
By the end of the training, you will leave with a grounded and practical understanding of how to work with sound in a meaningful way.
-
This includes a deeper understanding of vibration and its effects, the ability to integrate sound into practices such as Yoga Nidra, Yin, restorative, and meditative work, and the confidence to facilitate both sound healing sessions and sound baths.
-
You will also gain direct experience working with a variety of instruments, along with a more refined ability to listen, observe, and respond.
-
Beyond technical skills, the training supports a process of personal transformation through deep listening, helping you develop a more responsible and embodied approach to facilitation.

A Practical Advantage
An important aspect of this training is understanding not only how to work with sound, but how to source instruments with discernment.
At the end of the training, you will be guided towards purchasing instruments directly from authentic and trusted sources in India.
This approach allows you to access instruments that are traditionally crafted, of higher quality, and often more aligned with the roots of the practice, while also avoiding the significantly inflated pricing often found in Western markets.
More importantly, it supports a more informed and conscious relationship with the tools you eventually choose to work with.
